Chota Syuta and the World Environment Day.

We had mango trees on the banks of the river. But the tehri dam buried it all. What compensation? My trees gave fruits every year. The dam did not raise the employment they promised and the compensation is pretty darn insufficient.

During an interview with budi today at Chota Syuta I was rubbing my knuckles in pain …..so she offered to check it for me. The problem is not your knuckles that you keep rubbing…  it’s this knot of nerves on your right wrist. Look how solid this knot has become; you have ignored it for a really long time.

(The knuckles of my right had had been hurting for a while ……. off late the pain has become severe. I avoid painkillers. Even with a recurring back ache that sometimes leaves me immobile for weeks …. given a choice I would rather smoke weed than eat that white pill. Thing is…  I grew up watching my mother eat so many painkillers that I grew averse and suspicious of allopathy. After all my mothers headaches did not really go, neither did the backache.. not even after surgery. )

Interlocking her strong fingers in mine she repeatedly tugged my fingers with a jerk….then with ghee (clarified butter) rubbed the knotted nerves straight. For a Finishing touch tied the hair from the tail of a cow on my right wrist. … The pain in my knuckles is better since.

… morning started early. On the occasion of the world environment day, a seminar was organized at the Swami Rama Tirtha Parisar University, Badshahithaul today. I was asked to be ready at sharp 9am. We did not leave till 10am and the extremely mismanaged seminar had not started untill 11:15am when I had to leave for Chota Syuta.
